The Finance Process

To secure auto financing, lenders require a few pieces of information to determine approval status. You will need:

Proof of employment and income
Estimated monthly expenses
Your credit score and history
The down payment amount, including trade-in value
The purchase price of your vehicle

All of this information is used to determine the approval status of your vehicle loan, as well as the interest rate of the loan. Our financing specialists will help you organize this information and present it in a positive light to our lending partners. Additional documents you will need include:

  1. Valid Driver’s License
  2. Proof of Motor Insurance
  3. Proof of Income
  4. Proof of Residence
  5. Proof of Phone Number

Your Payments

The amount of your auto loan payments is determined using three different factors, including:

  • Loan Amount: This is the purchase price of the vehicle, minus the down payment and trade-in value.
  • Term of the Loan: The loan’s term in time it will take to fully pay off the balance. Typically, loan terms range from 36 to 60 months, or 3 to 5 years.
  • Annual Percentage Rate: APR is the interest rate of your loan, and it is determined by lenders based on different factors, including income, credit rating and employment history.

All of these factors will affect your monthly payment amount, and our finance specialists can help you estimate the costs. Auto loans can be tailored to fit your budget, as you can increase or decrease the amount you will pay monthly by adjusting factors. For example, by increasing the loan term from 36 to 60 months, you can decrease monthly payments by up to 30 percent. You can also increase the down payment amount or secure a lower APR to lower monthly payments.

Your Credit Score

Leading Credit Reporting Agencies

Your credit score is used by lenders to determine the potential risk of providing you with financing. This is a number that credit reporting agencies determine based on several factors, and scores can range from 350 to 850 points. A higher score can help you to secure financing, although it is just one factor that is used to determine your approval status.
Credit scores are calculated based on your credit history and include factors like:

  • Number of on-time and late payments for loans and credit cards
  • The type of debt you hold and the debt amount
  • Number of open accounts and the average age of your accounts
  • Number of hard credit inquiries into your credit history
  • Current judgements or liens

Can I Secure Financing with Bad Credit?

A number of financial situations can affect your credit score. For example, first-time buyers typically have not established credit, and therefore, have low or non-existent credit histories. Whatever the reason, our financial specialists are skilled at helping you address your credit issues, secure financing and start rebuilding or building a credit history. In fact, buying or leasing a vehicle is an effective strategy for improving your score.

Our finance team will work tirelessly to secure the best rates for you, regardless of your credit score. Yet, there are a number of steps you can take to help yourself get approved for an auto loan with bad credit. These include:

  • Check Your Report for Errors: According to the Federal Trade Commission, roughly 50 percent of credit reports contain errors that can negatively impact a credit score. Regularly review your score to ensure errors have not been made.
  • Determine the Loan Amount: Decreasing the loan amount can help you to get approved for bad credit. Start by estimating the value of your trade-in, as well as the down payment that you can afford. This will help our team calculate the amount you will need to borrow.
  • Bring the Proper Documents: Having the proper documents can help to speed up the approval process. If you plan to trade in a vehicle, be sure to bring the vehicle’s title and current registration.
