Mercedes-Benz of Naples Donates 2015 SLS Coupe

Most raffles end up with the winner taking home a prize such as a gift basket or some free movie tickets. As Chris Behm discovered, the Naples Winter Wine Festival raffle is not an ordinary raffle. While helping to support the Naples Children & Education Foundation, Behm took home a $230,000 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG® GT Final Edition Coupe.

Supporting the Naples Children & Education Foundation

Earlier this year, the SLS Coupe fetched $420,000 for the Fund-a-Need program. Overall, the amount raised at the Naples Winter Wine Festival was $12.1 million. This is the Festival’s greatest year since its inception in 2001. All proceeds from the Festival support the Naples Winter Wine Festival’s founding organization, the Naples Children & Education Foundation (NCEF), which has given out annual grants to over 40 non-profit agencies and has impacted the lives of about 200,000 children.

The Raffle Winner – Chris Behm

As a volunteer for the Naples Winter Wine Festival, Behm has always been interested in giving back to the community. However, the North Naples resident was unable to contain her joy of winning the highly coveted Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG® GT Final Edition Coupe. “I’m excited! I’ve never really won anything. I did win French fries from McDonald’s,” said Behm, who works full time and supports three daughters in college. Behm began volunteering for the annual Naples Winter Wine Festival eight years ago. She helped at the live auction, which this year unfolded at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort. The auction raised more than $12 million to support South Florida initiatives that assist children in economic need.

Behm bought one $500 dollar ticket to support the cause she strongly believed in and came away with one of the highest performing cars on the planet. Just before noon Sunday, Behm got a text from NCEF trustee Linda Malone, who told Behm that she thought she won the raffle. “I said, ‘Are you joking? Then I’m thinking she would not joke like that,” Behm recalled. “So I go, ‘You’re joking;’ she doesn’t respond.” An hour later she said, ‘They said your name, but messed up your last name,’ then read (Behm’s) address. Then she said, ‘It has to be you, Chris.’ “My girls are 23, 20, and 19. Two are at (Florida Atlantic University) and one is at (North Iowa Area Community College). They’re all excited too,” Behm said. “We’re going to drive over and see the two at Florida Atlantic. We thought we’d drive my (2006 four-door BMW) over to give the middle child that car and drive the new car over as well. They just cannot believe it… it’s just like ‘Yeah!’”

Performance that Dominates

The SLS AMG® GT Final Edition Coupe has always received the highest praise from both automotive experts and our Naples, Florida customers. Virtually every online review effusively praises the luxury coupe for its V-*, twin-turbo base engine that delivers 583 horsepower at 6800 rpm. This is more than enough juice to accelerate the S-Class sedan from zero to 60 miles per hour in 3.8 seconds.
